MAKING AN ORTHODONTIC REFERRAL.
As you maybe aware the provision of NHS Orthodontics is subject to change.
NHS England is currently engaged in a re-procurement process for Specialist orthodontic services across the South of England..
We hope to be able to advise our existing referring practitioners of the outcome of this next year, which will apply for all NHS referrals from April 2019.
We have been informed that all future NHS referrals will be electronic. You will be asked to complete all fields on the electronic form, or the referral will be rejected. NHS England are still working on the new NHS Orthodontic Referral Portal.
We would like to take this opportunity to update you of our existing DSO online referral process for both NHS and Private referrals.
We are able to see appropriate NHS new patients referrals within 12 weeks. Patients will be referred back to you if they do not meet certain creatia with advice on re- referral at an appropriate stage.

For those of you who have not yet registered for this you will need to have your own personal ID and Password. Please email : email@example.com to request your access details.
Separate login details are required for each practice that you work at.
IOTN Made Easy.
We recognise that you may require assistance in completing the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN) score.
The BOS have created a app to help you score a patients IOTN. Click HERE For more information about this app

What should my referral include:
Patient’s NHS number (Patient’s parent/guardian can obtain this from their GP)
Parent/Guardian details including Email and Mobile number
Please also ensure that the patient is:
Motivated to undergo orthodontic treatment.
Dentally fit at the time of the referral
Oral hygiene is good to excellent
